Michigan's Safest Riders Classes

Our classes are small ranging from 6 to 8 students, providing a more relaxed setting and allowing you more time with our instructors. Passing our class waives the state of Michigan’s riding test.

We have one day of classroom and the rest of the time is for riding on the range. Remember, you aren’t learning if the wheels aren’t turning!

For the range you will need a DOT helmet, glasses, full finger gloves, long sleeves, long pants and over the ankle boots. Bring your riding gear the first night as we will be riding the first night, depending on weather.

After you have paid for the class, you can purchase any needed equipment at Perry Harley Davidson, M&M Motor Mall, Life Cycle of Kalamazoo, or Harbor Sports & Cycle. Our students are entitled to a 10% discount, excluding motorcycles and sale items.

Payment Options:

Please fill out the application completely, including the dates you are requesting for your class.

You will be notified within a couple days of the class you are in. These classes are on a first come first serve basis.

This course is designed for those who have taken our Basic Riders Course, and have their endorsement and have their own motorcycles, but do not really feel very comfortable on it yet. We will take you through 10 exercises that you will ride on your own motorcycle. These exercises will start very basic and progress into more challenging exercises. You will have the opportunity to skip any of the exercises you do not feel you can complete, however we will encourage you to continue to complete all the exercises. When the course is completed you should feel much more comfortable on your own motorcycle and feel more confidence in riding on the street, and will receive a Graduation Certificate.

Experienced Riders Course

Our Experienced Riders Course is designed for those who have extensive riding experience, we suggest at least 2000 miles on your own motorcycle in the last year as a minimum.

This is a great course for those who have not ridden all winter and with this class it will get you back into the things of riding and riding safely.

This class is a lot of fun but also quite challenging.

When you are done with this course, you will be able to ride your motorcycle like very few in the world can ride. There will be exercises based on slow motorcycle handling as well as exercises based on crash statistics in Michigan and how to be more prepared for these scenarios that you might be facing on the street.

You will receive a graduate Certificate, and will feel far more confident on your motorcycle.

Winter Courses

In 2006 Michigan’s Safest Riders was the Pilot program for the State of Michigan for doing the Basic Riders Course during the Winter months. This was so successful we are doing these courses during the winter again for 2007.

This is how it works, you will take your classroom on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 pm until around 9 pm, then schedule for your range time in the Spring. Until it starts snowing we will have the range the same week as the classroom.

This is a first come first served course, so the ones who complete the classroom first will get first chance of their range time in the Spring.

The first Winter Course begins November 6th.

Cost is $300.00 and covers both the Winter classroom and the Spring Range time and we provide the motorcycles!

Michigan’s Safest Riders is one if not the ONLY program in the State of Michigan that has a 100% success rate.

These courses will fill up fast and makes a GREAT Christmas Present.
